Ron BlumRon Blum of Little River, South Carolina, is the fifth member of the USPMGA Hall of Fame. He was inducted on October 15, 2016, at the Night of the Masters, in the 20th year of the tournament, for his sportsmanship and his 16 years as the association's referee.
Blum worked at Hawaiian Rumble, the Masters' home course. When he got to know the tournament, USPMGA president Bob Detwiler made him the official referee of the Masters and the association's sports officer delegate to the World MiniGolf Sport Federation. The USPMGA remembers the 2005 Masters, when a rainstorm he called a tsunami hit the course: Blum had the staff and the players squeegee the greens so play could go on.
He was a U.S. Marine and a devoted Ohio State Buckeyes fan, and regulars at Hawaiian Rumble came back to see him. He said he looked forward to the pros' return every October and thought of them as family.
Ron Blum passed away on November 29, 2024, at the age of 88.
